Earth Day – Monday 22nd April
Please read the attached Eco Newsletter all about Monday's Earth Day. There is a challenge for each child and news about uniform on that day! Each class would like to adopt an animal so we are asking for a small donation towards this. ECO news issue 8
Year 2 Parents Evening
As the term comes to an end, we wanted to give you advanced notice of Parents Evening, which will be taking place on Tuesday 23rd and Thursday 25th of April. More details and appointment times will be sent out on Tuesday 16th April when the children return to school....
World Book Day
During World Book Day we will be completing the following activities…
- Exploring the word ‘Ogre’
- Design a fancy dress outfit based on a word
- Learn all about Nibbles – The book eating Monster!
- Spend a Drop Everything and Read session with another class
- Plenty of opportunities to do World Book Day fun activities; wordsearches, spot the difference, mazes, colour by picture etc.

Information for Parents
Homework - Maths
Maths Homework is set on a Friday and is due back as soon as it is completed.
Return by the Thursday at the latest.
Homework - Reading
We would like you to listen to your child read for 10 mins at least 5 times a week.
Please record each reading session on the Learning With Parents digital reading log – a weekly link will be send directly by text or email.
We aim to change their book regularly. There is value in re-reading a book to gain deeper comprehension, fluency and enjoyment.
You can also record books from your own bookshelf that your child reads to you.
Homework - Spellings
Spelling Test is on a Wednesday.
The new list is given out on a Wednesday and practice sessions are set up on Spelling Shed which go live on the same day.
PE Days
Year 2 have PE lessons on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Your child will need to come to school dressed in weather appropriate PE kit on these days.
Remember to remove earrings and tie up long hair before they come to school.
