Year 5 – Oak & Maple
We are delighted to welcome you to our Y5 Team page. This space is a great way for us to share snapshots of your child’s learning journey in a way we hope will be both celebratory and informative. We’ll give you a taster of our curriculum and what we plan to cover – term by term. Look out for letters, reminders and anything else we think will be useful by scrolling down to the Y5 Information and Documents tabs. Finally, and most importantly, enjoy the photos of your children learning, creating, achieving and having fun in Y5.

We have explored a range of poems from classics such as Night mail by WH Auden and Escape at Bedtime by Robert Louis Stevenson to rap poems by the current hip-hop artist, Karl Nova. We were inspired by Benjamin Zephaniah’s The British (serves 60million) and went on to write our own class poem titled Parkdale (serves 438) to celebrate our school diversity. Children learnt a poem of their choice, off-by-heart, and performed their brilliant recitals to the class. Enjoy the recitals below and check out our gallery for more poetry celebrations.
