Part of our new Sustainability Plan is to do more to encourage children to understand, appreciate and love nature. Next half-term, the whole school will be doing some learning about trees; their importance, the threats to them, how they can be protected…

We will be taking a mindful, creative approach with lots of opportunities to study trees, create art, enjoy being around trees. We might even hug a few; trees are good for our psychological wellbeing!

We will also be trying to learn to identify important British native trees. Your child could get a head-start on this over the weekend and/or half-term if you wished – why not have a tree-spotting walk? There are lots of fantastic resources to help, including an identiification app, here at the Woodland Trust:
