I am delighted to announce that we, Parkdale Primary, have achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2021/22 academic year. The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward and recognise school’s engagement (provision and uptake in PE) and to celebrate keeping young people active, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

There are 3 levels of the award Bronze, Silver and Gold and in order to achieve any level of award, schools need to meet very strict prerequisites. To be awarded the Gold level (for the 4th year in a row!) the criteria is very demanding, such as, offering opportunities that attract less active young people, insuring an inclusive 2 hours per week of physical activity,  a tracking system to track children’s participation,  provide a variety of sporting opportunities, run after school clubs. holding and registering a school games day, taking part in a specified number of level 1 (Intra school sports) and level 2 (Inter school sports) events, offering children leadership opportunities and offering talented young sports people specific support to help them develop their sporting potential, to name but a few. If you are interested, please see the full criteria below.

We are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been once again rewarded this year. Next year, we will be aiming for the prestigious Platinum award!
