After the disappointment of Tuesday’s cup defeat, ours girls bounced back in spectacular style with a 10-0  League win over Carlton Central. One of our school values is resilience and our girls showed plenty of it!

From the start, we were a bit too strong for our visitors and soon began to rack up the goals. We swept to a 6-0 lead in the first half, which was notable for a bitterly cold wind and a horrible hail shower!

For the second half, we allowed our opponents to bring on an extra player and we switched positions and formations a bit to try to ensure the result didn’t get too dispiriting for them. This did slow down the goal scoring, but we added another 4, including ‘goal-of-the season’: Lola won the ball deep into our half, ran with it, looked up to pass to Danayah on the left. Danayah swept out a fabulous long cross-pitch pass to Evie-Grace on the right. E-G sped up the wing, delivered an inviting cross into the perfect spot for Amy, who had got into a great position, to just sweep it home. Phenomenal!

Everyone played their part, including Lottie who still had to be alert and avoid hypothermia on a quiet  day between the sticks!

Congrats also to any passing Carlton followers – their girls kept going throughout and showed real bravery and determination in difficult circumstances.
