Welcome to bulletin #26
From Mr H
We seem to have had a whole year’s worth of weather in a week since the last bulletin, but it is generally beginning to feel a bit more bright and Spring-like, which must mean both Red Nose Day and the Easter Bonnet Parade are on their way – see the diary below.
It has been great to see so many family members coming into school for the events we are putting on and we will continue to try to add more and more of these. We are a community school and we want everyone to feel part of it. Our thanks for the lovely feedback we’ve had about the events so far.
The children have been doing their termly assessments this week – a chance for us to check how they’re getting on, what we might need to do more work on and re-teach or where to go next. There’s no pressure on the children and many tell us they love doing the tests – no accounting for taste, I guess!
On the subject of children’s wellbeing, we certainly do see more and more children facing challenges with anxiety, depression, social and emotional aspects and we know this must be a worry for families. Support services have been pared back over the past decade to the point of being virtually inaccessible, with the thresholds for referrals set extremely high. It’s a worry and a national problem. The FACE courses featured below are highly recommended if your child’s wellbeing is worrying you and you’d like advice and support.
If you’re reading this on Friday, have a lovely weekend everyone…
