Welcome to bulletin #38
We continue to zoom towards the Summer holidays, but there’s still plenty more to cram in yet; Sports Days, a whole-week of moving into new classes, reports to come home and, of course, the Summer Fair tonight!
I’m looking forward to the fair, where for the first time we are having some m
usical accompaniment from a variety of DJs. I’ll be digging out some vinyl for my own slot on the running-order from 6 to 6:30pm. It’s something I used to do a lot of, but that has slipped a bit post-Covid. I collect rare (read “stupidly and dangerously expensive, let’s hope the other half never properly checks up”) soul and I think I’ll spin some of the more modern sounds from the Northern Soul scene; ‘modern’ being 70s where it all starts to blend into prototype disco. That’s all a bit more summery and relaxed than the 100mph traditional Northern. However, if you want to get on your bags, circle skirts, put talc down on the playground and show off your spins, swallow dives and stomping moves, let me know and I’ll stick some of that on too! 😉

As ever, thanks to all for their donations to the fair, to FOP for their tireless efforts with this important fund-raiser, staff for staying late when they’d really rather go home and to the stall holders and other DJs on the night. Of course, huge thanks also to all who turn out, part with their hard-earned money and contribute to what is always a lovely atmosphere.
