Year 4 enjoyed a wonderful (and tiring) walk around Nottingham Centre embracing the culture of their local city. After a short trip on the number 43 bus, we walked through Hockley, looking at history of the local theatres and lace market. At the contemporary the children explored the painting, artwork and videos made from the artist Donald Rodney;

The artwork brings together nearly all that survives of his work across painting, drawing, installation, sculpture and digital media with rare archive materials, the exhibition highlights Rodney’s significance to the recent history of British art.

Next, we walked up to Nottingham Castle, past Broadmarsh, the Trip of Jerusalem and a quick photo with the statue of Robin Hood. At the Castle the children had lunch, then explored the AR workshops – aiming their bow and arrows, practise their ‘staff’ skills, dressing up and other arcade games. They visited the gallery in which they loved seeing the painting of Goose Fair which we had learnt about in class. Finally a short play on the park.

Our final walk through market square saw the famous council house the trams and ‘Larry and Ronnie’ the lions (Also known as Agamemnon and Menelaus).

We loved our day out. Photos below, but more of Showbie!

Thank you to the many volunteers for making this possible.
