We had the most amazing 2 days at Walesby Forest in Newark.
The children all had a fabulous time exploring some new challenges.  Mrs Walker’s group managed to get to 14 crates on the crate stack which was the record of the residential.  The assault course was challenging and fun.  All of the children got on with it and overcame their nerves on the more difficult parts and became super competitive on the races.  A first for many was throwing the Tomahawks, there was a definite knack and the children soon realised that throwing with a bit of aggression really helped to make it stick into the target!  We were most impressed by the courage and resilience on the 25ft climbing wall.  There were a few children tentatively putting on their harnesses and helmets looking really unsure, but we were so proud of them all having a go and some got to the very top.
The behaviour of the children was outstanding and it was noted by the Walesby staff and rangers.  They left the accommodation in a spotless condition and while we didn’t have any unclaimed belongings, we hope you got back all the things you sent them with and not their friend’s dirty washing 🙂
We all came home very happy and super tired from a full two days.  We know they are looking forward to going again in Year 4 to take on more of the Walesby challenges and activities, keep a look out for a sign up sheet coming out soon.
Thank you to Mrs Ellis, Mrs Hallam, Mrs Carlin, Mrs Walker, Mr Deakin and Mr Pattison for giving up your evening with your own families so we could take the Year 3s away.
