As previously reported, our Year 5 cricket team had qualified for the County Finals, which we held today, Wednesday, in West Bridgford.

Our team were up against tough opposition in the 12 teams who had won their own borough championships. Some of these schools had squads comprising totally regular club players and many county players. Hot favourites and perennial winners, the Nottingham Boys High School, have professional coaching from a very early age and incredible training facilities – that’s what £18,000 a year can buy you!

We played our three group rounds in the morning and lost each one, but not by much, We held our own in this level of competition and were not out of place.

After lunch, we played two more matches and won both, to finish 8th overall –  not bad in the whole of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. All 9 of our squad played their part, not forgetting Jesse too,  who helped us qualify but was injured today.

Well done to: Anum (Capt), Manmeet, Danyal, Zachary, Abdullah, Jessica, Haris, Spencer and Remae.

PS You’ll never guess which school won! 😉
