Another historical item discovered in the process of a bit of a tidy-up today. A log book from the 1980s. Pre-computers, the heads used to keep a hand-written school diary. It’s a fascinating read. And what beautiful handwriting the previous heads had!
14th Feb 1986: “Mr Parry, Deputy Chief Education Officer…. called to inspect the buildings…. he described them as an abomination.”
9th March: “The after school film club showed Black Beauty to a full audience”. Maybe we ought to re-enact this, see how BB has stood the test of time!
3rd Sept 1987: “School re-opened to 21 new entrants” For comparison, we admit 60 each September these days.
The early 1990s seemed to see break-ins and/or vandalism almost weekly. Two amongst many tales of woe…
14th January 1992: “The school was broken into during the night and many audio-visual items and cash was stolen.”
31st March-1st April 1992: “The school was broken into again during the night. There was a considerable loss of property”.
