Whilst largely aimed at parents and carers of children who are part of our competitive table tennis academy, the following gives something of an idea of our commitment to development in this fantastic, inclusive sport. We are working closely with Table Tennis England and Nottingham Table Tennis Club to become a hub of excellence and high participation. All Parkdale children are taught table tennis, from basic skills and co-ordination in Reception, to high-level competitive skills and tactics higher up the school. We currently have a fantastic ‘crop’ of competitive (and social) players in Year Six, many ready for local, regional and national competition, individually and as a school team. We have the Nottinghamshire Schools Team Championships coming up in November, the first time we have entered this.
Nottingham is a major centre for table tennis, with both universities having teams that are consistently amongst the best in Europe, attracting world-class players. National, European and World events are hosted here and, of course, at Carlton le Willows, we have one of the best facilities in the country right on our doorstep. A good number of ‘Parkdalers’ have already gone to excel at table tennis and play to a very high level indeed through secondary school and into adult life.
