We have enjoyed having the mobile pool with us again this year and the progress made by the children has been fantastic. We are seeing such an improvement in outcomes with much, much higher numbers of children in Years 3 and 4 now being able to swim the primary-school target of 25m than ever before. Those who haven’t got there yet have still made good progress and we will continue to work to help them achieve this national objective. The main difference has been the increased actual ‘pool time’ and the small group, personalised attention that the coaches have been able to provide.
The children report that they love having the pool here and many who might otherwise find it difficult or stressful to travel to and access the ‘big pool’ have really benefitted. It’s fun and the skills they learn are critically important for their safety.
We are delighted with the outcomes and proud that we ‘stuck to our guns’ in the face of some quite strident opposition and difficult obstruction of this initiative.
There will be a special assembly to celebrate children’s achievements in the pool this Thursday.
