For the health, wellbeing and safety of all of our children, and staff Parkdale Primary school is a non- smoking and non-vaping premises.
Our building and site are legacy Notts County Council property, who remain our landlords. We comply with their regulations on this out of legal necessity and also because it it the right thing to do on a site where the primary concerns are always for children.
Nottinghamshire County Council has a smokefree policy that prohibits smoking and vaping on all council premises and during work hours. This includes council-owned grounds, buildings, and vehicles, as well as during work-related activities. The policy aims to protect employees and visitors from the harmful effects of smoking and secondhand smoke.
No facilities e.g. smoking shelters or designated smoking spaces will be provided for smokers either inside or outside Council premises.
We were very disappointed to find parents not respecting our site during Sports Day and even more so that some were argumentative, disrespectful and resistant to staff asking them to stop smoking.
In future any adults smoking, or vaping, will be asked to leave the premises immediately.
