In response to feedback received over the past couple of years about the format and value of annual reports – mostly very positive thank you – we are looking at a new format and style. We think we might have figured out a way to make reports more personal and focussed on the things that people tell us really matter to them. We hope so anyway! We’d like to get this right – we know reports are important to families and are often kept to look back on in future. They also take a huge investment of teacher time, mostly evenings and weekends at home.
We’d like to give what we’ve got so far a bit of a trial run. We are looking for 2 or 3 volunteers from each year group One to Six to give us permission to run a ‘test’ report for their child, based on the year so far. We’d then ask for feedback on how it compares to the previous format and whether we are heading in the right direction. The reason we’ve not asked Nursery or Reception, by the way, is that there is nothing to compare with and their reports are slightly different already. The Early Years Team might want to do their own trial in due course.
If you’d be interested in helping with this, please email Mr Hillier directly, putting Annual Reports in the Subject line. Let him know your child’s name and class. We’ll take the first few in each year and try to get something out before half-term or very shortly after. After that, we’d send out a short survey to gather your thoughts and suggestions – we might even host a little ‘get together’ for everyone over a cuppa to discuss!
