Schools are expected to encourage families to make medical appointments outside of the school day. However, we appreciate that this is not always possible and you have to take what you are offered. If parents/carers could point this out to healthcare professionals and actively seek appointments that do not result in missed time in school, that would be great. We’re sure they’ll do what they can with what they’ve got available. Beyond that, no one can do much more.
If an appointment absolutely has to be in school time, please be prepared to be asked by the office team for sight of an appointment card/text or whatever else may be suitable. It is part of their job to ask for this and see confirmation whenever possible.
Thanks in anticipation of your help with this. We recognise that the rules and procedures around attendance are stringent these days, but we have to do what we have to do within the current rules and guidance and the bottom line is that we have a duty to do all we can to promote high levels of attendance.
