Governors and staff have recently considered the problem caused to the operation of the school by late collection of children at the end of the school day. We recognise and appreciate that unforeseen circumstances can result in late arrival and that we just have to manage this.  However, we have a very small minority of parents/carers who are routinely late, causing anxiety to their children and disruption to staff and the operation of the school..

To address this, Governors have chosen to exercise the school’s legal right to charge for unagreed childcare beyond the school day or the end of an after-school club. The attached policy explains how this will work, but in essence:

  • If a child is collected late 3 times in a  rolling 6 week period, parents/carers may be notified that childcare caused by further late collections will be charged for.
  • The charge will be £10 per 30 minutes or part thereof per child.
  • Prompt payment is expected and school will take reasonable legal steps to recover any debt.
  • The repeated late collections may be recorded under the category of neglect on our Safeguarding system
  • Referral to the relevant safeguarding authority will be considered.

We would hope never to have to implement any of the above, but reserve the right to do so. As ever, our thanks to the vast majority who support us and their children by collecting on-time.
