A reminder to all that we are closed to pupils tomorrow, Friday the 3rd of October, for an INSET Day.

This is one of the compulsory days – a legal requirement – on which staff have to attend training and professional development. An INSET day is not an extra closure. They were added to the school year calendar in 1988 as five additional working days for staff – very unpopular at the time! The school year of 190 days for children remained unchanged. Schools typically have five INSET days per academic year to ensure high standards, allow staff to plan, and complete necessary tasks. These days are essential for the ongoing learning and development of teaching staff and are a legal requirement in the UK.
