Following Mr Hillier’s super half term challenge we have been overwhelmed with the amazing support for the challenge, and the activities that your children have taken part in ! Watch this space for some celebratory posts and ensure your children bring in their score sheets to get a Headmaster award and house points.
You may be wondering why you are hearing so much about physical activity from us recently. We have signed up to take part in an initiative to “Create Active Schools”. This is a movement created as a collaboration between Sports England, Public Health England, medical professionals, academics in the world of child health, and the teaching profession, to support children to learn healthy habits, and to be active in their academic learning. The NHS recommends that children are active for 60 minutes a day every day, as a minimum to keep them healthy. We are trying to offer these 60 minutes within the school day, in addition that any activities and clubs you take part in at home. Research has found that active children are healthier, and learn healthy habits for life, plus that when children are active in their learning they learn and remember more!
If you have any ideas or questions please let me (Hayley Rippon) know! We are always happy to try new active learning ideas. physical-activity-for-children-and-young-people-5-to-18-years
