Parkdale FC – Promoting Hope Nottingham
On Tuesday, our girls played their Gedling PSFA Champions Cup 1/4 final at home to our neighbours from Sacred Heart. Our relatively inexperienced team had done brilliantly to qualify for this through their league campaign and we always suspected that this might be a tough fixture. We knew Sacred Heart have a lot of club and academy standard players and had won things locally. As it transpired, they are Gedling, Notts and Midlands Champions and go to the national finals soon!
Our visitors stormed to an early lead and we then had the advantage of the power play, with one then two extra players. It remained though a matter of just defending as best we could. Maisie had an absolutely brilliant game in goal, making a number of fantastic saves. However, not even she could prevent us going down to a 13-0 defeat.
The girls showed great resilience and gave it 100% effort. Sometimes, you just have to recognise the brilliance of the opposition. Our best wishes to Sacred Heart for the nationals. They are a great team and it should be noted that their girls were all very, very pleasant and respectful of our team too.
