We continue to be very busy on the football pitch. The boys got back to winning ways this week, with a very solid 5-0 Gedling PSFA League win away to Willow Farm. This came at a good time for us on the back of two heavy defeats in the County Cup semi-final and in our previous league fixture against Sacred Heart. It’s all good though; we’re learning to be resilient, gracious losers and similarly respectful winners.
We took a very inexperienced squad of girls – two teams in fact – to the Transform Trust girls football festival. This featured 18 transform schools and was designed as a means to get more girls playing. Our girls struggled physically against much bigger and more powerful opponents, but showed some good skills and understanding 9f the right way to play. There’s nothing we can do about the size and physical development thing! The girls had fun and the entire event was lovely; we were resilient and all of the opposing teams were kind and respectful.
