Parkdale Football – supporting and promoting Hope Nottingham

Yesterday (Tuesday) saw us host our nearest neighbours in a proper local derby. Sacred Heart walked up the hill with two teams to take us on. We put out separate Y6 and y5 teams, whilst the visitors went ‘a’ and ‘b’.

Mr Pattison managed our Y5 team in their match, which turned out to be a closely fought goal-fest, with us running out 5-4 winners. We stormed into an early 3-0 lead, but the visitors showed a lot of resilience and came back strongly. Everyone played well, but special mention to Zakariya, who bagged himself a hat-trick on his debut! All the teams should feel proud of their skill, effort and sportsmanship, which Mr P reports was excellent. It’s also worth noting the excellent attitude from Sacred Heart’s players too.

Vinnie’s dad kindly coached the Y6 team, whilst Mr Hillier focussed on reffing. It has to be said that Sacred Heart put out a remarkably strong side in this one. We really had to dig in to overcome their brilliant passing and movement off the ball. Dig in we did, with a very resilient performance and a lot to celebrate. The visitors were deserved winners, but the 6-1 scoreline hides a lot of good play from our boys and the fact that Yousaf hit the post twice too. This was one of those where we just have to hold our hands up and say they were the better side and we need to ty to learn something from how they played. It was all very high quality though and our team played with a great attitude and sportsmanship-  as did Sacred Heart..
