Parkdale Football, promoting HOPE
Our competitive football season came to an end in a thrilling encounter with Lambley in the quarter final of the Gedling Champions Cup. Two very good teams, both winners of their respective leagues, battled their way to a 1-1 draw at the end of normal time. Lambley had taken the lead with a breakaway goal, but pretty much continual pressure form us brought a well-deserved equaliser. Both teams went close to a winner, us repeatedly, but neither could find a goal to settle it.
Extra time continued the same way – high quality, with us dominating possession, but not finding that elusive goal
So, it went to penalties, which always looked potentially problematic; the goals we play in are small and Lambley had a big keeper; it becomes hard to see where you might score! Unfortunately, this is how it panned out, 1-1 after 3 penalties each, Lambley taking it in the first ‘sudden death’ round.
It’s always a horrible way to lose, but the lads soon got over the disappointment and reflected on what has been a brilliant, successful season to be proud of. They have represented our school and our community superbly.
