We really value the strong communication we have with our families and want to reassure you that teachers will always do their best to respond to emails as soon as they can. At the moment, staff are receiving a large number of emails each day and, while they are keen to support, their main focus during the school day has to be teaching and caring for the children. Even in their ‘breaks’, they tend to be busy dealing with children and/or setting up the next lesson. At the end of the day, they are often going straight into meetings. This means they are not able to reply immediately.

Our aim is to respond within 24–48 hours on school days, and often we will manage sooner, but we kindly ask for patience if a reply takes a little longer. We have noticed that some emails are being chased within only a few hours of being sent, and we would appreciate your understanding that this is not always possible for staff to manage. Thank you for helping us keep communication positive and manageable, while allowing teachers to give their full attention to the children’s learning.

We also understand that many parents may find it easiest to send an email in the evening or early morning, and you are of course welcome to contact us whenever is most convenient for you. Please be aware, though, that teachers are not expected to check or reply to emails outside of the school day. Messages sent out of hours will be picked up once staff are back in school and will be responded to within our usual 24–48 hour timeframe.
