Thursday (3rd) is census day. This is when we submit all our numbers to determine our funding for the coming year.
One important calculation is based on the number of children taking their entitlement to a free school meal in Reception and Key Stage One, which is every child!
At present, we have fewer than 50% of children taking this free meal, which if replicated on Thursday will cost school tens of thousands of pounds of funding. We are struggling for money as it is and could not take such a financial hit without seriously reducing what we offer to children in school in terms of resources, events or learning support.
Please, please, please could all children in Key Stage One (Reception to Year Two) have a school dinner booked for Thursday, even if you decide to send in a packed lunch as a back up in case they don’t like the dinner offered – fish fingers is the main choice that day.
