As a school, we are signed up to the campaign group Kids Against Plastic. In our day to day operation, we try to eliminate as much unnecessary plastic waste as we can. It is better not to use it in the first place than to recycle and, of course, some plastics cannot be recycled anyway.
Kids Against Plastic run a specific campaign against what they refer to as ‘plastic tat’; the kind of throw-away objects that are often targetted specifically at children. Christmas, much as we love it, presents some particular environmental challenges.. Some of the facts and figures cited on the two resources below are shocking, but there are some good tips too! We’d encourage all of our community to be as environmentally minded as possible in their Christmas consumption!
