As previously reported, we are changing our approach to teaching and learning in Year One from September, to operate with more ‘Continuous Provision’, the style parents/carers and children will be familiar with from Reception.
In line with this, we felt that it would make sense to change our uniform policy so that Year One continue to wear active uniform, more suitable for the amount of playing, exploring and spending time outdoors they will be enjoying.
We like to know your views, so ran a consultation with parents/carers of children currently in Reception and the results were as follows:
Would you prefer to keep the ‘active’ uniform that the children wear now in Reception during their time in Year 1 (moving to formal uniform in year 2)?
We received 42 responses as follows;
Yes (keep active) = 26
No (go formal) = 10
No preference = 6
We appreciate the love for our smart formal uniform and are glad that there are some who favour it. We’re taking that as a positive!
Nonetheless, having taken this to Governors who gave unanimous approval to a policy change, we will be adopting active uniform for Y1 from September. We have announced this early so that families can order the correct items and our supplier knows to anticipate a change in demand.
If you have already purchased uniform for next year or had intended to use exisiting, pre-loved or handed-down uniform, we do not want to add to your costs. Please feel free to continue to send your child in what you had already sourced if that suits you best.
