Year 6 Homework

Year 6 Homework Information

Homework plays an important role in supporting children’s learning and helping them to develop independence, responsibility and good study habits as they prepare for secondary school. Regular practice at home reinforces what has been taught in class, strengthens understanding, and builds confidence.

In Year 6, homework is set on a weekly basis to help pupils practise key skills and consolidate their learning:

Maths (Arithmetic)
Set every Friday and due in the following Friday.
This focuses on developing fluency, accuracy and speed with core number skills, which are essential for success across all areas of maths.

Grammar
Set every Tuesday and due in the following Tuesday.
This supports their understanding of spelling, punctuation and grammar.

We encourage children to complete homework independently wherever possible, but parental support in encouraging good routines and checking that work is completed on time is greatly appreciated. Consistent homework habits help prepare pupils for the expectations of secondary school and beyond.

Thank you for your continued support.
