Tilly and the Time Machine by Adrian Edmondson

“Tilly is seven and a half – and about to make history.”

Tilly’s dad builds a time machine in the garden shed.  Tilly can choose any place and any time to visit.  she really wants to travel back to the last good memory with her mum… but thing don’t go according to plan.  Dad is trapped in Victorian England and only Tilly can save him, but how can they communicate across the years?

A fabulous book that links to our themes Rags and Riches and visiting Victorian England.  This story makes the links between family, having and not having.

The Prince and the Pauper based on the story by Mark Twain

Set in Tudor England – 2 boys; one rich and one poor, whom have never met before , can’t believe their eyes, they discover that they look alike.  They decide to swap clothes and see what life is like on the other side of the palace gates.  All is well until the King dies and they are stuck in each other lives.

An introduction to the Rags and Riches theme, set in a time where lives were very different for you depending on if you had money or not.
