Our big focus this week has been to re-launch our Anti-Bullying Charter with children and the wider community
 - see the article linked below.

Anti-Bullying Charter Re-Launch

Celebrating Musical Achievements

Late arrivals: We are experiencing a lot of disruption to teaching and learning by late arrivals to school. In the Early Years, this means a member of staff has to leave the classroom to come through school to collect the late child. Clearly, while they are doing this, they are not doing their main job –  which is to teach  – and lessons or groups are interrupted. In the older years, children coming late into lessons is also disruptive and unsettling for the class, who will have started learning at 8:45 and be in the full swing of things.

We would appreciate everyone’s support with getting children to school on time. We operate a generous arrival ‘window’ from 8:15 to 8:40, so there should be no reason for children to be regularly late.

Scooters and bikes: Just a reminder that for health and safety reasons, children are not allowed to ride on the school grounds. They must dismount at the gate and push their scooter or bike from there onwards. This rule was introdued a few years back when we saw a number of adults and other children inadvertently injured by collisions with scooters or bikes. We have had a number of near-misses recenlty, hence this reminder. Children not complying will be asked to leave their bike or scooter at home in future, which is obviously somehting we’d not want to resort to.

PE

We are having a real push on PE, a subject we have always taken very, very seriously at Parkdale. Our PE page is full of news and celebrations of the children’s (and adults’) ahchievements. It’s well worth a look and Mrs Rippon is encouraging you to share your family’s sporting interests and success stories with her for publication. There are quite a few there already! The link above is playing up a bit, but if you click on the big ‘PE’ header, it should take you directly there. Or click here: https://parkdale-primary.co.uk/pe/

Let’s Get Reading!

Coming up next week:

Thursday 3:30pm – Meeting for Nursery parents/carers with Holly Harris, our Speech and Language Specialist.

Friday is an INSET DAY – school is closed to children for a whole-Trust training and school-development event.

Finally, watch out for a big announcement on Tuesday.  We’re not allowed to reveal what it is until then, but we’ve earned a global award that we have been working incredibly hard for over a number of years. It’s one that we think makes us, our children and our community (that’s you!) very special…
