Happy New Year. On behalf of all the team here at school, we wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous 2025. It’s certainly off to a chilly start, compounded by our boiler problem earlier in the week. We’ve been operating on one (of two) boilers, but expect the second one, which sort of ‘boosts’ the first, to be sorted today when the necessary part arrives. We’ve been leaving the single boiler running through the night to keep the building up to temperature and it’s been fine. We did come close to closure at one point though. Phew!

Before we head into the round-up, we are sure you will join us in congratulating Mrs Miller-Orme, teacher of 5 Maple, on the lovely news that she is expecting her first child. She will be commencing her Mat Leave from Easter and we are currently planning how to best cover that. We’ll keep parents/carers of 5 Maple informed as and when we have news.

From the Office: Next Thursday is Census Day, on which certain key numbers determine our income for next year. We need to encourage as many children as possible to take a school meal that day. This, for reasons we’ve never quite fully fathomed, makes a huge impact (tens of thousands) on our budget, which in turn makes a huge difference to what we can offer for children in school by way of resources and support. At a time when money really is tight, this is even more important than ever.
