Last Friday (17th), we hosted the finals day of the Transform Trust Festival of Football. 8 schools, winners and runners-up from their area, were invited. One could not attend, so we put in a second Parkdale team to keep the numbers even.

In blazing sunshine, but with a merciful breeze, the opening was played as a round-robin in two groups of four. Neither of our teams qualified, but both played well and did us proud. The semi-finals pitted favourites South Wilford against Breadsall Hill Top and second favourites Lawn against Robert Shaw.

Neither favourite made it through! Breadsall earned a nail-biting penalty shoot-out win against Wilford and Robert Shaw got a deserved, dogged 1-0 win against Lawn.

So, the final brought together two outsiders, both of whom fully deserved to be there. Another close encounter brought a last minute (literally) winner for Robert Shaw to send them home with the trophy and gold medals and Breadsall with the silver.

In the 3rd/4th play-off, South Wilford prevailed to take home the bronze medals.

This was a wonderful afternoon, with lots of Parkdale classes coming out to cheer the teams on, a great turn-out of families and a really good standard of football. Thanks to all who helped and contributed.
