We have fielded a small number of enquiries about the nature of trunks boys are expected to wear for swimming. The rules are set by Notts County Council’s swimming service rather than ourselves and they preclude baggy shorts and anything getting towards knee-length.The regulations state tight fitting shorts or trunks, really to preclude ‘board shorts’ which do not lend themselves to coaching or efficient swimming.
We have looked into this and there are plenty of alternatives for those who don’t want a traditional, short pair of trunks. Speedo do jammers (Speedo Eco Endurance Jammers) with drawstring waists and even specify ‘lined for modesty’. These are currently available on Amazon at a heavily discounted price. There is a wide variety also on Speedo’s own website. Slazenger seem to do a budget version too, available form Amazon and Sports Direct.
