Welcome to this week’s bulletin

Firstly, a huge well done to our fantastic Year Six cohort, who have completed their end of Key Stage Two SATs this week. The children were well-prepared and approached the tests very positively. All we can ask is that they’ve done their best, no stress, no pressure. Word of our relaxed, mindful approach had made it to the local media as Radio Nottingham came long on Thursday to see our breakfast social club and to chat ‘on air’ to children and staff. If you missed this, it’s still there on the BBC Sounds app, The Sarah Julian Show, appearances at around 7:45 and 8:15.The only real drama around the SATs came when the ice-cream van got properly stuck on the field on Friday morning after the children’s treat!

An important piece here, about some concerns around the Prime drink. Details of how we plan to manage this in the first instance without recourse to a ban. We prefer not to wholesale ban things from school – Pokemon and football cards being other good examples – as we would rather children learnt to manage their behaviour and make good choices for themselves. However, we’ll reserve the right to ban Prime if the small number of issues persist: https://parkdale-primary.co.uk/prime-drink/

From our Eco Committee:

The Eco Committee are concentrating this term on water and waste.  KS2 have made a pledge to keep hydrated and one of the things we are asking children to do is to make sure they bring a recyclable water bottle with them to school.  If you are struggling to get one of these for your child please let the office or your class teacher.

Playground development: an update on this previous news item – Governors and Trust Finance have now approved the project  to be completed this Summer and have chosen for the works to be undertaken by dbdplay, who installed our MUGA and are also doing the work on the Nursery outdoor area this term.
