Football News
Congratulations to our ‘a’ team who came runners-up in this week’s Transform Trust Championship. 18 schools battled this out at the Powerleague in Lenton and our squad came though their qualifying group unbeaten and looking very strong. A relatively comfortable 3-0 quarter-final win followed by a tense, protracted semi-final penalty shoot-out took us into the final where we faced Highbank (Clifton). Here, we ‘ran out of steam’ a little bit against another strong side and went down to a 3-0 defeat. An early goal left us chasing the game and exposed in defence. Not to worry – the squad represented us brilliantly, showed great skill, teamwork and sportsmanship, came home with lots of credit and fantastic, ‘blingy’ runners-up trophies. We took two teams to this. A mention too for our ‘b’ team, who put in some great performances. While they did not qualify from a tough group for the cup finals, they represented us with great skill, teamwork and sporting behavour throughout. Well done to everyone.
A reminder that Y5/6 football club features its annual ‘swap-around’ of days from the first week back. The Year 6 boys move to Tuesday with Canoville Coaching, The Y5 boys’ session moves to Wednesday. No change for the girls, who all continue on Wednesday.
Y5/6 Cricket continues on Tuesdays, so some Y6 boys – those currently doing both cricket and football – will need to make a choice there!

Look out for lots of activities and events around Transform Trust Community Action Week when we return. We’re expanding our CAW into the first week back and then into the following week too. Our children will be doing lots to support Hope Nottingham. As a precursor to this, some of our Y6 have been volunteering with Hope collections at Morrisons this week. They have done a brilliant job, prompting lots of lovely feedback from the public and Morrisons staff, including this:
Good Morning,
My name is Lauren and I am the community champion at Morrisons Netherfield. I would love to say how pleasant the students from your school have been in store. They are truly an asset to your school.
Mrs Niaz is also a lovely teacher and it has been lovely to meet her and the students that have been so far.
Another reminder that we still have a few, rare, free places for Reception from September. If you know of anyone who has a child due to start school and think they would enjoy Parkdale, please feel free to mention this to them! Full classes are good for our overall budget and therefore benefit us all: https://parkdale-primary.co.uk/reception-places-available/
News of changes to uniform policy affecting (only, as in the current Reception cohort) Year One from September: https://parkdale-primary.co.uk/year-one-uniform-changes-from-september/
Wishing everyone a lovely half-term week!
