Merry Christmas!

On behalf of all the team at Parkdale, we would like to wish you a very merry Christmas. Enjoy the atmosphere and the time to be with family whatever your beliefs and have a safe, happy time together. As we come to the end of another challenging year, we would like to thank Parkdale families for your support and warmth, especially around the recent inspection. Today’s INSET Day has all been about making the school even better, in terms of environment and teaching and we will always be looking to improve even further.

There has been a lot of illness in school and hopefully the holiday will act as a ‘fire-break’ in transmission. Some classes on some days have had as many as ten children off! This is unprecedented, but seems to be a picture replicated locally and nationally. There  are just a lot of things going around. Staff have not been immune to this either and covering classes has been a real challenge, but we scraped through. Thanks to everyone, families, children and staff, for doing their very best to be here when they can. We hope anyone currently poorly is soon recovered.

We say a temporary goodbye and good luck to Assistant Head Mrs Burge. Julia has been asked to take on a secondment to lead another school as Acting Head, a great honour and opportunity for her. This is due to be for two terms and the plan is for a return to Parkdale by September. We are currently advertising internally for someone to step up into the Assistant Head role here and should be able to confirm in the frst week back.

We are having some roofing work done over the holiday. This is scheduled for New Year’s Eve (!), so if you are passing and see workmen on the roof during the day, it should be legitimate. Anyone on the roof any other time alomsot certinaly isn’t meant to be there, so please report!

We re-open on Wednesday the 4th of January and look forward to seeing eveyrone then.
