This week’s news in brief and reminders for the coming week

Covid continues to cause us lots of challenges, particularly around staffing. We have a number of key absences which mean we cannot currently always provide all that we usually offer to children by way of extra activites and support. Normally, of course, we would book cover, buit there is just none available – supply teachers and teaching assistants are just about impossible to find. We are also short staffed in the Office, so please bear with us if we are a bit slower than usual in answering the phone, dealing with enquiries, replaying to emails etc. A big shout out of thanks to staff, many of whom are having to do work that is not really theirs to do and many of whom are voluntarity covering extra hours. It’s a great team effort in a difficult time.

Y2 Athletics: On Tuesday 25th January, Mrs Garrett took 16 Year Two athletes to an athletic competition at Arnold Hill Academy. The children took part in a range of activities testing their balance, jumping and throwing skills. All the children had a great time and lots of fun was had whilst improving their fundamental skills. The children also enjoyed the short journey in a very cosy, posh mini bus. Poor Mrs Garrett, Miss Edwards and Mrs Scott had to listen to a range of Nottingham Forest and England chants all the way there and back!

Class Photos: photo day is next Wednesday, the 2nd.

Governors: There is a (virtual) meeting of our Governing Body at 4pm next Wednesday

Weekly Lottery: We have played catch up and drawn the first two winners of our punctuality initiative. Two children now have brand new scooters! There will be another draw next week for children who have managed to be on time each day this week. We will continue to run this for rhe foreseeable future and will review at the end of the Spring Term.

Reception Trip to Gedling Country Park: This is next Tuesday, the first of Feb

Y1/2 Disco: The Friends of Parkdale disco for Y1 and Y2 is next Friday,

Poppy Appeal Thanks: We’ve just had a thank you  from the Royal British Legion and we are very glad to have been able to support them. Apparently, for the 2nd year running we are the biggest local fund-raiser, with a terrific £496.13. Thanks to all in our community who contributed.
