The term dates for 2024-25 have been added to the website home page. There are 4 INSET Days to add.
As before, we have aligned our year with Carlton le Willows, the school to which the large majority of our children move in Key Stage 3 and where we have most siblings.
This maintains the one week Autumn half-term, which we strongly believe to be the better option educationally, preferable to two weeks in October and losing a week of the Summer holiday. Conversations with colleagues in other schools, which have adopted the longer half-term break, would seem to confirm this. They frequently report finding the two weeks disruptive to learning, especially to younger children settling in. They also report that many families feed back to them that they struggle to purposefully fill that two weeks for their children – with bad weather and dark evenings – unless they can afford to go abroad.
So, for now, the pattern remains the same. We will, of course, keep a close eye on what C le W do in future.
